Responsible Use of Refrigerants

HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) are the refrigerant of choice for the world's leading air conditioning and refrigeration equipment manufacturers, contractors and service technicians because of their superior balance of properties – performance, cost, safety and environmental sustainability.  However, when they escape to the atmosphere, HFCs do contribute to climate change.  To minimize this potential environmental impact, DuPont has worked with other stakeholders to develop a set of Responsible Use Principles for HFCs.

DuPont is following the principle to “design and operate HFC-producing plants with the goal of achieving zero HFC emissions.”  The entire heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry must work to “recover, recycle, reclaim and/or destroy used HFCs where technically and economically feasible.”

For more information on how to minimize the potential environmental impact of HFCs, refer to Responsible Use Principles for HFCs.
